Ecumenical House is an ecumenical forum and gathering that gather members from different denominations, ethnic backgrounds and nations of origin to meet together to talk about current events, share experiences and build bridges. The program is organized by the Metropolitan of Chicago, Dr. George Gaponos, the former archbishop of Athens and now the bishop of Chicago.
Ecumenical Outreach Through Ecumenical House, individuals from all walks of life have the opportunity to be part of an ecumenical dialogue and worship. At the Ecumenical House, they are encouraged to listen to each other and pray in spirit.
Ecumenical House was created as a result of a request from the Ecumenical Assembly of North America, which was formed in 1967. The Ecumenical Assembly of North America is a collaboration of religious leaders from around the United States and Canada. The Ecumenical Assembly seeks to foster unity among all those who follow Christ.
Through Ecumenical House, members of the Ecumenical Assembly can gather and talk about their personal issues in a loving and open environment. At the same time, participants can get to know one another in the hope of building closer relationships and unity.
